SpoonOS has launched a Skills Micro Challenge running from Feb. 3 to Feb. 9, inviting developers to submit “Agent Skills” via pull request to its designated repository. The campaign includes a US $5,000 rewards pool and a fast-track pathway for top submissions to enter a $50,000 grant program.
The challenge follows SpoonOS’ recent rollout of its Web3-native Skills marketplace, and is designed to seed that marketplace with more production-ready, reusable components while giving the team a structured way to identify high-quality builders and projects through real contributions.
How to participate
Developers can participate in the Skills Micro Challenge by forking the XSpoonAi/spoon-awesome-skill repository, selecting the appropriate tag directory, and creating a new personal folder for their Skill submission. The repository is structured around multiple tracks and categories spanning Web3 integrations, productivity tooling, and platform-focused improvements.
According to the announcement, submissions should be made as a pull request with a standardized title format, and include a completed template covering the Skill name, a short description, author or team, tag, and links to code and a working sample. The Sample Link is listed as a mandatory field to support reviewer verification.
Following approval, accepted Skills are expected to be synced and listed on the event marketplace within 72 hours.
Rewards and grant fast track
The $5,000 prize pool is distributed across two tiers:
- Top 20 Skills: $150 each
- 100 Excellence Awards: $20 each
In addition, the top ten Skills are automatically entered into a fast-track pool for a $50,000 grant program, positioning the Micro Challenge as an on-ramp to longer-term ecosystem funding.
Scoring criteria and community feedback
SpoonOS’ stated evaluation framework scores submissions across four dimensions – usability, security, completeness, and innovation – worth five points each for a total of 20 points. The criteria place particular focus on private key management and transaction verification for Web3-related Skills, while also emphasizing documentation quality and the presence of verifiable demos.
