COZ is returning as a sponsor and technology partner for the second year of the DENVER WALLS mural festival, taking place in the River North neighborhood. Like last year, COZ is installing ITEM Systems’ non-fungible item-enabled bronze plaques accompanying each of this year’s 13 murals. The festival kicked off on Saturday, Sep. 28 and concludes on Oct. 5.
DENVER WALLS is a local branch of the global brand WORLDWIDE WALLS, which has sister festivals in various cities throughout the year. 2023 was Denver’s inaugural festival, hosting the local WALLS chapter and featuring 17 international and Colorado-based artists. DENVER WALLS 2024 showcases 13 new pieces created by local artists such as Anna Charney and Kendall Rose Kippley and international artists like Telmo Miel and mur0ne.
Like last year, the bronze plaques installed at each mural are embedded with NFI chips that allow visitors to tap-scan, or camera-scan a QR code, to interact with the art and artist. However, this year, festival attendees will be able to redeem their waypoint check-ins for a free reward in collaboration with a local business.
NFI-Empowered Activation
Upon arriving at a mural, visitors can locate an NFI-enabled plaque near the DENVER WALLS artwork.
When scanning the QR code with a mobile camera, the user will be taken to an information page providing a biography of the artist and a direct link to their social media accounts. Additionally, the user can exit the bio page and see an interactive map showing the locations of all the murals from DENVER WALLS 2023 and 2024.
If visitors tap-scan the NFI transmitter embedded in the plaque with the NFC reader on their mobile device, they can access the same information as if they scanned the QR code. However, the cryptographic nature of the NFI chips will also verify that a user has visited the mural’s physical location. This distinction is a critical component of the activation.
When users collect two “proof-based” NFIs from tap-scanning any of the 30 murals installed in the two DENVER WALLS festivals, they can redeem them for a free beverage with local brewery Ratio Beerworks. The tap-and-redeem process will all take place within the mobile phone’s web browser, so users will not need to download an app, save a seed phrase, or pre-load the wallet with GAS. The redemption process for the DENVER WALLS 2024 activation is powered on the Neo N3 blockchain.
Crypto Coffee & Blockchain Beer
On Friday, October 4, The Smart Economy Podcast will host a special episode of Crypto Coffee and Blockchain Beer on its official X/Twitter account. CC and BB, typically anchored by NNT co-editors Brett Rhodes and Dylan Grabowski, offers insights into the week’s broader blockchain and cryptocurrency happenings within and outside the Neo ecosystem.
In this edition of the X/Twitter Space, Grabowski will be joined by COZ CEO Tyler Adams to discuss the DENVER WALLS 2024 collaboration and activation, and shared experiences at TOKEN2049, which recently took place in Singapore.
The Space begins at 3:00 p.m. (UTC) and will be recorded.
