Neo has released a new holiday-themed game, Grouchy, Grinchy, Grumpy AI Christmas, inviting community members to recover a “mystery gift” by questioning an intentionally unhelpful AI. The web-based experience is available at xmas.neo.org and is powered by SpoonOS infrastructure.

In the game’s premise, the AI has stolen a gift, and players must ask questions to piece together enough clues to identify what it took. Rather than providing straightforward answers, the AI always responds in one of three ways: it lies, misdirects, or insults the player. Participants must determine which type of response they received and use any useful hints to narrow down the correct answer. The game is designed to encourage the community to work together by sharing responses and collaborating on theories to decipher the gift.

Players receive a limited number of questions per day based on their connected wallet’s historical Neo N3 transaction history. Wallets with more activity are eligible for more daily questions. To be eligible to submit a final guess, users must participate on at least three competition days. Because asking questions requires arbitrary message signing, Ledger wallets are not supported.

Participation costs a 0.5 GAS entry fee, which is added directly to the prize pool. Sending messages and submitting answers is otherwise free. A 200 GAS base prize pool will be increased by all collected entry fees and split among participants who correctly identify the gift at the end of the event.

The event is open now and scheduled to run until 00:00 UTC on Dec. 30.
