Registration for the 1st NEO Dev Competition began on November 20th, 2017 and is open until March 10th, 2018, when all participants must submit their code. Winners will be announced on March 31st, with a total prize pool of $490,000 USD worth of GAS up for grabs.

The NEO Dev Competition is co-hosted by Microsoft and has attracted considerable media exposure. As of February 7th, 416 projects from over 40 countries have applied. Registration and code submission channels will remain open until March 10th.

Participants are advised to keep the looming deadline in mind as they begin to wrap up their development.

After submissions close, the competition will proceed to the assessment phase where entries will be reviewed by a judging panel consisting of: NEO co-founders, Da Hongfei and Erik Zhang, City of Zion founder, Fabio Canesin, Elastos founder, Rong Chen and Ontology founder, Jun Li. The list of winners will be released with prizes distributed accordingly no later than March 31st.

Reward Distribution Plan:

  • First Prize: 1 winner to receive $150,000 USD in GAS
  • Second Prize: 2 winners to receive $50,000 USD in GAS
  • Third Prize: 3 winners to receive $30,000 USD in GAS
  • Prize of Merit: 10 winners to receive $15,000 USD in GAS

GAS is used for prizes to incentivize developers to deploy smart contracts and release contract assets to the NEO blockchain. This will help foster a healthier community ecosystem.
