Custodial exchanges have begun to migrate NEO and GAS assets from the Legacy network to Neo N3 on behalf of their users. At the time of press, three exchanges have added N3 support and opened trading, while one has noted support is underway.
On Sep. 10, CEX.IO became the first exchange to support Neo N3 and migrated user’s NEO and GAS Legacy assets to the new chain. The team also stated it will honor the Legacy to N3 migration incentive program, offering bonus NEO to users with migrated assets. Neo Legacy deposits will remain open until November 1st and will be migrated automatically. Trading of N3 assets is now live.
On Sep. 13, Gate.io confirmed all NEO and GAS held on the platform had been migrated to Neo N3, and that deposits and withdrawals for the new network had opened. Moving forward, any users that send Legacy tokens to the exchange will have them automatically migrated to N3. Gate.io has not confirmed if it is providing migration rewards.
On Sep. 14, Huobi migrated user NEO and GAS to N3 and stated it would distribute migration rewards proportionately to the amount of NEO held in the user’s account. A snapshot of user accounts was taken at 4:00 p.m. (UTC) on the same day.
Finally, support for N3 from OKEx is forthcoming, with the exchange noting the suspension of Legacy NEO and GAS deposits and withdrawals on September 8th at 11:00 a.m. (UTC). Users with tokens on the exchange are still able to trade and assets will be migrated to N3 automatically. No date has been given for N3 asset deposits and withdrawals.
Looking forward, other large custodial exchanges have signaled their intent to support N3 assets in 2021. These include Binance, Bittrex, and Bitfinex.
(Update: Huobi hadn’t enabled N3 NEO and GAS withdrawals and deposits until Oct. 15.)
