Guardian Circle have been named a finalist in the app category of Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas Awards. World Changing Ideas is a competition that celebrates businesses, policies, and non-profit organizations that contribute to a more sustainable and equitable future.

The competition included 12 different categories with nearly 1400 entries. Each category was judged by a jury of social entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, thinkers, designers, alongside a Fast Company editor. Guardian Circle was selected as one of the 240 finalists, because of their work to elevate social good and the potential for real impact.

Guardian Circle allows users to create their own private free emergency response system network. The app uses AMBER alert-style warnings to alert network members if someone finds themselves in an emergency situation or needs help. Networks could consist of trusted friends, family, neighbors, or anyone that would be able to respond to an alert.

The app has 4 different alert levels: Emergency, Urgent, Request, and Only A Test. Guardians will be able to immediately identify the severity of the alert, and respond accordingly. Guardians will be able to use a shared map, and chat room to help organize and respond to emergencies as quickly as possible. Guardians will then be rewarded in cryptocurrency with Guardium, Guardian Circle’s new NEP-5 token. Tokens can then be redeemed for more services, or sold within the platform.

The app has many use cases including:

  • Women who find themselves feeling threatened and need immediate help.
  • Families looking to remain in contact with elderly members, who may fall ill.
  • Parents of young children who have gone missing.
  • Residents near the natural disaster zones.
  • Residents of developing countries, who currently do not have ANY type of emergency response system.

Guardian Circle is headquartered in Santa Monica, CA and is available worldwide on the IOS, Android, and Amazon Alexa platforms. Guardium announced a switch to the NEO platform in March, 2018, for the next phase of it’s global decentralized 911 emergency response system. The current version of Guardian Circle does not yet have the Guardium token integrated.
