NEO will be one of the first cryptocurrencies supported in the upcoming DigiFinex debit card. The card will allow users to pay for goods and services with NEO via UnionPay, the world’s largest PIN-network. Applications for the debit card begin March 30, 2021.
DigiFinex and Blucon announced the debit card in a Feb. 24, 2021 press conference. Neo co-founder, Da Hongfei, was among the participants in the Zoom audience.
DigiFinex is a custodial exchange that offers spot trading for NEO and GAS and leverage trading for NEO. It has offices in Singapore, Australia, China, South Korea, and Malaysia, and reports more than 4 million users. At the time of press, DigiFinex is a top 50 ranked exchange with approximately US $1.1 billion in 24-hour trading volume.
Blucon is a payments processing company focused on reducing barriers to spending cryptocurrency in the traditional retail economy. It is the entity tasked with converting cryptocurrencies into spendable fiat currency on the debit card.
UnionPay’s infrastructure enables debit cardholders access to services in 179 countries and regions through its 2,400 institutional partnerships.
The DigiFinex UnionPay debit card will initially support BTC, ETH, NEO, DASH, BEP, and DFT.
