Ontology was recently revealed by Onchain at a preview event in Shanghai. The Ontology team will be joining NEO in New York on the 27th of November for the official launch.

Ontology combines distributed identity verification, data exchange, data collaboration, procedure protocols, communities, attestation, and various industry-specific modules. Together this builds the infrastructure for a peer-to-peer trust network which is cross-chain, cross-system, cross-industry, cross-application, and cross-device.

At protocol and application level ONT focuses on connecting/mapping different identity services, however, ONT is not an ID service provider; it is a connector/mapping of various ID services including NEO ID and other ID services. ONT also allows for cooperation between different ID services. In addition ONT distributed data exchange protocols, and other trust cooperation scenarios that also function by connecting/mapping different external services and systems. ONT has infrastructure platforms to support dApp development for different scenarios.

ONT has a token system to support different scenarios such as incentivization, smart contracts, and data exchange. The details of an token distribution have not yet been confirmed. The token distribution will not be held in Mainland China.
