On April 11, 2018, PeerAtlas announced the opening of Know Your Customer (KYC) registration for the medical journal platform’s upcoming public token sale.
About Peer Atlas
PeerAtlas aims to be a free open-source medical encyclopedia to provide peer-reviewed medical information. PeerAtlas’s token, ATLAS, will be used to reward creators of medical articles and algorithms useful to those in the medical field.
The latest and most well-researched medical knowledge available for medical professionals and the general public is often kept behind costly paywalls. These paywalls have been used to force subscriptions to access to medical-based journal databases. This reduces access to valuable knowledge, second opinions, and advice.
PeerAtlas will utilize a NEO-based NEP-5 token, ATLAS, to create a new model of incentive-based medical knowledge sharing in two ways. First, through direct donations from community members to authors of articles, and creators of algorithms the community finds useful. Second, medical professionals can accumulate continuing medical education (CME) credits, which may be redeemed for ATLAS tokens.
Utilizing this incentive strategy, PeerAtlas seeks to provide a high-quality medical resource created by paid professionals, without selling advertising or requiring access through high subscription fees.
ATLAS tokens will be minted by a smart contract, and a supply of 100,000,000 tokens will be created.
