Ontology has officially unveiled the first versions of their Chain Network and Trust Ecosystem roadmaps. The roadmaps outline deliverables for the next three years, with a focus on the remainder of 2018. More detailed information on 2019 and 2020 deliverables will be released in future versions.

The roadmap is as follows:

Ontology has two different strategic projects: the High-Performance Public Chain Network, and the Distributed Trust Platform and Trust Ecosystem. These components have been separated into two roadmaps to accommodate for the different considerations unique to each project. The Chain Network roadmap has a focus on performance and scaling, while the Trust Ecosystem has a focus on its trust collaboration platform and data transaction. Together, Ontology hopes to create a collaborative trust platform that can support real businesses.

A brief description of the overall focus of each stage on the roadmap can be found below:

Chain Network

Socrates – Homogeneous Chain Network

2018

Ontology will focus on the functionality and performance of its Chain Network. Ontology will be working on consensus algorithms, transaction parallel verification, smart contract platforms, and network communication platforms. For governance, Ontology will be researching a dual token governance model.

2019

Ontology will be focusing on the research and development of sharding technology for the Ontology Chain Network. For governance, Ontology will continue to conduct research on multi-token models with core partners as part of the sharding research.

2020

Ontology will continue to work on the implementation of sharding technology for large-scale commercial deployment of the Chain Network.

Plato – Heterogeneous Chain Network

2019

Ontology will focus on business interactions with mainstream blockchain networks. This will include authorization management models, cross-chain business discovery, cross-chain asset anchoring, and cross-chain asset-based business exchange.

2020

Ontology will continue to work on their ecosystem technology. An Ontology based cross-chain solution will create a heterogeneous Chain Network for large scale commercial deployment.

Aristotle – The “Next-Generation Internet”

2020

The goal of the “next-generation internet” phase is to use blockchain technology to improve current internet pain points such as filtering, identifying, and verifying information whilst ensuring privacy and protection. This phase will focus on building an information trust system based on the Ontology Trust Network ecosystem. The aim is to bring trust to the whole internet by integrating trust mechanisms into existing internet information organizations. Ontology wants to establish a “blockchain trust zone” within the internet using Ontology’s network and trust collaboration platform.

Governments, businesses, organizations, and communities from across the world will be able to participate in the development of the next-generation internet using this model. Each participating entity can establish its own trust chain network system and interact with others through a collaborative protocol group. This will create an extensive distributed trust network.

Trust Ecosystem

2018

Ontology will be working on a trust search engine release (ONT TSE), supporting distributed data exchange marketplaces, and support for trust collaboration dApps. Ontology will also be welcoming the second batch of trust anchors and partners into the ecosystem.

2019

Ontology will be supporting more cryptographic algorithms to meet data transaction, collaboration, and governance needs. It will also be working on the launch of the distributed community framework to support decentralized communities and applications. Ontology will be pushing to support more collaboration products and solutions for decentralized applications in more industries and across more regions.

2020

Ontology aims to establish itself as a top global trust collaboration platform.
