Defina Finance’s VP of Marketing, Juli Chung, joined Neo Global Development’s AMA series, Neo Live, on Wednesday, Oct. 13. Defina Finance was recently admitted into the N3 Early Adoption Program. In the AMA, Chung discussed the purpose of the FINA token, details about the DeFi and NFT-based gaming platform, plans to attract users, why the team chose to build on Neo, next steps, and much more.

The Neo Live AMA event was composed of three parts. First, an introduction segment where NGD asked five questions. Second, a live question and answer session where five questions were selected from the community. Lastly, a trivia game with USDT rewards.

John Ricci (Neo Telegram admin): We will start the first session with Juli Chung giving a brief introduction and her role with Defina Finance.

Juli Chung (Defina Finance VP of Marketing): Hi everyone! I am Juli, the marketing VP from Defina. 

My role in Defina mainly consists of planning weekly events, establishing marketing strategies, moderating our social media accounts, and also I do AMAs to help users better understand the game and integrate into the community.

Q1: What is Defina Finance? Could you provide more details about the project and how did it all start?

Juli: Defina Finance is a fascinating blockchain game that combines the concept of DeFi and NFT. Players can buy or collect various NFT Mystery Boxes to get heroes & weapons and fight and enhance their champions to learn skills in numerous game scenarios. Players can participate in DeFi yield farming and earn abundant on-chain earnings while enjoying a fun and strategic card game with PVP and PVE modes.

This year, our team secured funding from blockchain investors, and they brought up the idea of developing a game that utilizes blockchain technology. This discussion happened while the market was slowly getting ready for the explosive growth of blockchain-based games. Our team took note of various successful cases and how their Play-to-Earn model enabled these games to be a source of income for individuals who were affected due to COVID.

Unlike traditional gaming, which only provides entertainment and escapism to players, blockchain-based gaming provides entertainment, escapism, and a true ownership economic model to gamers. For example, think Fortnite, where you can own your skins and weapons and trade them with other players without having to sell your entire account. This would open doors for developers to create games where players can actively earn an income by playing their games.

We believe blockchain games and the Play-to-Earn model is the future of gaming and will empower gamers to transform from consumers to ecosystem participants.

Q2: What can users expect from Defina Finance regarding a roadmap for this upcoming year and beyond?

Juli: We can proudly say that Defina has achieved so much in such little time. We have a very lively and supportive community and they helped co-create many aspects of the game and we will continue to do so for future updates. We completed our 1st beta test with our community. 

We sold out on our Defina Genesis NFT in 28 seconds and sold out 9,600 Defina NFT Mystery boxes. And, we also just finished our Private Sale and IDO.

Moving forward, our next milestones will include:

  • Launching Defina’s Marketplace
  • Defi FINA staking pools on TheForce.Trade
  • A 2nd closed beta game test before the launch
  • Website and whitepaper update
  • Launching our official game at the end of October, available on IOS, Android, Windows, and Mac

Furthermore, we will keep adding new heroes to the game while launching weapons, other props and equipment, and additional gameplay, providing our players’ new features and updates, allowing more community governance, and decentralizing game operations.

Q3: How do we get NFTs? Will there be a pre-sale? Can you give us some information about current partnerships?

Juli: Players will have two ways to get heroes. One way is to purchase mystery boxes. This will give them a random hero from the pool. The cost of the Mystery Box will be a fixed price. The second way is to get heroes from the Marketplace where players trade their heroes. The cost of the hero from the secondary market will depend on the seller.

Our official Marketplace will be up this week. For the Marketplace, we will support multiple currencies, including FINA and BNB. Soon our members can trade their collections.

Q4: Could you please tell us your competitive advantage that makes you stand out from the competitors? What is your strategy to attract new users and investors to Defina Finance and keep them long-term?

Juli: Here are some points that make Defina unique. The IP design of the project is very beautiful, with outstanding graphics and art.

Defina’s development team members are all from the traditional game industry. The game design and gameplay are well thought-out and professional, and the game can be played on different platforms, including PC, Windows, iOS, and Android. Defina’s design, art, and professionalism far exceeds most games currently on the market compared to other blockchain games. The team focuses on making the game, not just play-to-earn but also fun to play.

The development of our project is very stable. The team has been steadily guiding the community to participate in reward tasks in the Discord community. In the game mechanism design and other programs, it can be seen that the original intention of the above activities is based on the perspective of serving the community and is committed to creating a project with the community, for the community.

Defina has a lot of community-driven activities, including:

The team released the Beta game before the token generation to give players an idea about the gameplay and take feedback from the community to further improve the game.

The developer will integrate community-driven content into the game. For example, the community helped us design our Heroes’ background stories and provided the background. A future governance system will allow the developers to produce a game based on the community’s interests. 

Q5: How do you see Defina Finance fitting into the Neo ecosystem?

Juli: The Defina team was drawn to Neo as the blockchain with the most feature-complete platform for building decentralized applications. The team values how Neo enables their developers to digitize and automate the management of assets through smart contracts on N3. The team also chose Neo for its access to powerful native infrastructures such as decentralized storage, oracles, and domain name service. Defina believes that together, these capabilities provide a solid foundation upon which to build out Defina’s ambition to become a Game Finance (GameFi) giant.

From here, Defina plans to release a set of Neo Defina NFT heroes. Starting with a limited supply of Defina hero NFTs, Defina will launch a Neo-exclusive script and invent more gaming modes on N3. Defina looks to optimize its gaming ecosystem across a range of blockchains, while bringing diversity to the Neo GameFi portfolio. The project will also later implement a system for staking rewards and governance.

Q6: Do you have any plans to hold more NFT Mystery Boxes sales in the future? Also, how many minimum heroes do I need to play the game?

Q8: How can early adopters help the project grow before it launches? From providing liquidity to general participation, what different roles are there when it goes live?

Juli: I believe that Defina will continue to be successful because of our community members and how much they bring to the table. Since Defina is adopting a decentralized model, we make sure each and every member of the community is heard. For example, we released our beta game a few weeks ago, offered a rewards system for each bug and suggestion, and had a Discord channel to let beta testers review and bring suggestions to improve the game. These suggestions were brought back to the development team and reviewed and implemented in the game’s official release in late Oct. 2021.

A second example, the game’s backstory and each characters’ backstory, are all written by our community members and supporters. We made sure that everyone could partake in the selection process, and they voted for their favorite stories to appear in the game! You can go on Discord and vote now!

We believe that a well-balanced, high-quality game values the community’s inputs and suggestions will make the project survive. At the end of the day, players are the key to a sustainable ecosystem. Without them, a game will not be successful. We will make sure the game is fun and interesting, so it will attract the players to play the game, love and support the game while enjoying the benefits of investing in a game that they like.

Q9: What steps has Defina taken to ensure the security of the code?

Julie: We will have several auditing firms to audit our smart contracts. As of now, Turstlook is doing our first audit. It’s an audit company from Silicon Valley. After the first audit, we will use Knownsec and Certik for future audits as well.

For the game: We have an Anti-Cheating mechanism in place. Firstly, we will prevent users from using the same heroes for different accounts through a time lock of withdrawing heroes. This will eliminate users from cheating by transferring their heroes to other wallet addresses to play the game.

Furthermore, if we detect an IP is used multiple times, we will ban the IPs. And our system will detect the unusual activity of the account, such as using a bot to play the game. Detected accounts will be banned right away.

Q10: How does the Defina team approach the Asian market? Is there a global ambassador program to attract more users?

Juli: Yes! We have a Defina ambassador program. If you are an influencer, have a social presence, a YouTube channel, Twitter, or Telegram, please DM me on Discord to share your plans for Defina and join our journey! 

Defina’s vision is to bring blockchain to millions of players, allowing them to explore a new form of gaming through blockchain technology. Unlike traditional gaming, which only provides entertainment and escapism to players, blockchain-based gaming provides entertainment, escapism, and a true ownership economic model to gamers. We want to introduce the whole new concept of gaming to both traditional players and investors. 

For traditional non-crypto people, we will first target them through Defina’s previous traditional game community (Harbingers). We will give out onboarding guides, tutorials, and NFT airdrops to help our traditional players to try blockchain technology and blockchain tech-supported games. We also hope to reach people through their favorite content creators (Twitch streamers and Youtube Game streamers) from the non-crypto gaming space and let them use Defina as an introduction to the crypto world. 

Besides that, we plan to offer merchandise, such as cards, hoodies, and toys that use our IPs. We have a lot of community members interested in it since our IPs are unique and attractive. They told us it would be great to own not just the NFT but an actual merchant item. Thus, we will not only focus on building the crypto world game but also expanding our game and brand into the non-crypto world.
