Neo has announced the Neo Frontier Launchpad competition which begins Monday, May 24, 2021. The event is designed to encourage developers to start new projects on Neo N3, and offers more than US $100,000 in prizes and incubation opportunities.
On the spectrum of project submissions, NGD said:
“There are no restrictions on the type of project you can submit to the Neo Frontier Launchpad, as long as it uses Neo N3 technology. You may choose to explore DeFi solutions such as liquidity pools, AMMs, flash loans, or stablecoin protocols. Perhaps you’re interested in NFT technology in areas such as gaming, content licensing, or fractional ownership. Maybe your specialty lies in layer2 protocols, scalability, privacy, or DAO technologies. It’s completely up to you.”
Prizes
Three major prizes of $12,000 equivalent in NEO will be awarded to the best NFT, DeFi, and General projects. The NFT and DeFi awards will go to projects that demonstrate the most outstanding use of the respective technologies. The General category winner will display exceptional overall use of Neo N3’s features and blockchain technology.
Major prize winners will also receive incubation support through the Neo EcoBoost program.
Eight teams will win Excellence prizes totalling $5,000 equivalent in NEO and a one hour consultation with the NGD EcoGrowth team.
Further, all winners will receive a custom vested NEO package through Neo’s Early Adopter Program. The vested NEO package is intended to reward participants for continuing development beyond the competition and will be released based on certain milestones determined by NGD EcoGrowth.
Phases
There will be two phases to the Neo Frontier Launchpad — planning and development.
The “Planathon” phase of the event allows teams submit a project plan and receive feedback. Participants who submit the best plans will be granted “multipliers” between 1.1x and 1.5x, applied to the team’s final prize. For example, if a team wins a 1.5x multiplier and the first prize of $12,000, they will receive $18,000.
Submissions for the Planathon open on May 24 and close on June 7, 2021. Planathon participation is optional.
The Development phase of the Neo Frontier Hackathon opens on June 12 and closes on July 12, 2021.
Developers can anticipate a range of quick starts, guides, sample applications, and tutorials to become available as the Development phase approaches. Neo encourages participants to join the Neo Discord to receive support from its global developer community.
Winners will be announced on July 21, 2021.
