On May 14th, 2018, a community meetup will be held in São Paulo, featuring representatives from the NEO ecosystem and Brazilian virtual exchange platform, São Paulo Digital Business Exchange (BOMESP).

Speaking at the event will be Malcolm Lerider and Tamar Salant from NEO, Igor and Vitor Coelho from NeoResearch, and Fernando Barrueco, legal advisor for BOMESP.

BOMESP received a boost in January when the Brazilian SEC ruled that Niobium, the exchange’s native currency, is not a security. Although BOMESP is running on Ethereum, they share many of the same values as NEO, aiming to create a distributed economy through tokenisation.

There are three types of “colored coins” that will be utilised on the exchange.

Green Coins will be launched by non-profit and charitable organisations, particularly in health, education, philanthropy, culture, ecology, historical heritage, labor and micro-credit. Green coins can be used as a reward for people who make charitable donations.

Blue Coins will be created by companies for the intention of obtaining financing from the market, with the promise of redemption from the issuing company a stipulated time.

Gold Coins will be similar to the cryptocurrencies we are familiar with, tokenising assets, providing smart contract functionality, and are more likely to have greater liquidity.
