Centra has added NEO as a spendable currency on their prepaid card. The Centra Card integrates multiple cryptocurrencies into a single usable physical and virtual card. Card holders use the Centra Wallet to manage their funds, and select which currency they would like to spend each time they make a payment.
Centra made the announcement on February 17th, however the community quickly made it clear that GAS would be the preferred supported token, due to the indivisibility of NEO and the utility of GAS as a currency. On February 18th, Centra announced that they had heard the feedback and would be adding GAS to the platform within the week.
With the inclusion of NEO and GAS, Centra will support 19 spendable cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, DASH, Monero, Ripple, ZCash, NEO, QTUM, EOS, 0x, OmiseGo, Status, Salt and Civic.
There are three prepaid cards available – Centra Blue, Centra Gold and Centra Black. The Blue card costs 50 CTR (Centra’s token) to purchase, whilst the Gold and Black cards require the user to hold 10,000 and 100,000 CTR respectively in their Centra Wallets to be eligible. Each card has different daily limits and withdrawal fees, with Blue providing the most basic service.
In the future Centra plans to move to it’s own blockchain using a Delegated Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism, introduce the CentraMarket for the buying and selling of daily-use goods, launch a centralized / decentralized hybrid exchange and create Centra Merchant Services to allow retailers to accept digital assets at point of sale.
