Travala, a travel booking marketplace which plans to list more than half a million properties worldwide in December, has announced a partnership with Hotelbeds. Hotelbeds is the world’s largest “bedbank”, or lodging wholesaler. Travala claims that its Hotelbeds partnership, soon to be bolstered by the planned merger of Hotelbeds with its new acquisitions, the GTA and Tourico bedbanks, will give Travala “worldwide coverage of 1.5 million properties” for its upcoming beta launch in the first quarter of 2019.
Hotelbeds is the world’s largest lodging wholesaler, selling access to 170,000 hotels in 185 countries worldwide. In exchange for access to wholesale room pricing, Hotelbeds offers hotels exposure to tour operators, travel agents, package deals with airline tickets, loyalty programs, as well as online travel agents like Travala.
Hotelbeds also claims to “absorb the collection and credit risk” for its registered properties.
