Neo founder Da Hongfei hosted a cross-platform AMA on X and Discord to discuss the trajectory of the Neo ecosystem as well as SpoonOS, a newly announced agentic operating system framework. Across both platforms, Da responded to over 60 questions from participants, addressing Neo’s evolving strategy, technical priorities, and plans for long-term sustainability.

Neo announced the shutdown schedule for its Neo Legacy public networks. The Neo Legacy TestNet will be halted on June 1, and MainNet operations will end on Oct. 31. The shutdown will also mark the end of the migration process for Neo Legacy tokens to Neo N3. Users must migrate tokens such as NEO, GAS, FLM, FTX, pONT, and Flamingo-wrapped USDT, WBTC, and WETH before the shutdown date.

Neo released NeoCLI v3.8.0, an update that includes a hard fork that will allow the Neo Council to modify block generation times. The T5 TestNet was upgraded on April 30, with the MainNet hard fork scheduled for May 14. Nodes must be updated before the hard fork, named Echidna, to avoid compatibility issues. The TestNet fork occurred at block 5,870,000, while the MainNet fork will occur at block 7,300,000.

Neo’s ecosystem attended the Crypto AI:CON side event at TOKEN2049 Dubai. Neo Foundation head of development Steven Liu delivered a keynote speech on the recently announced SpoonOS. COZ CEO Tyler Adams participated in a panel entitled “The AI x Crypto Intersection: Agents, Tools, and Infrastructure.” Flamingo Finance lead Odd Røland Jørgen participated on a panel entitled “AI meets DeFi: Smarter Protocols, Dynamic DeFi.”

Neo partnered with the Foundation for Interwallet Operability Protocol  to bring human-readable handles to replace public addresses on Neo X. FIO Protocol describes itself as a “usability layer,” which was designed to operate in a blockchain-agnostic manner and make blockchain more intuitive to use. FIO’s functionality is compatible with a broad range of applications, including wallets, exchanges, and dApps.

Neo announced a partnership between SpoonOS and FLock.io, a decentralized AI training platform. FLock.io aims to democratize AI training through its decentralized platform. It positions itself as a response to the risks of centralized AI development, where a few large entities maintain control over data pipelines and model outputs. The partnership with SpoonOS will allow its developers to leverage FLock.io’s training infrastructure.

SpoonOS also partnered with Footprint Data to provide tailored Web2 and Web3 blockchain data for the SpoonOS data layer. The service offers data from over 30 blockchain networks.

Flamingo Finance distributed the first FLOCKS token allocation to users negatively impacted by the Poly Network hack in Aug. 2024. The Asset Support Initiative is designed to offer affected users compensation of up to 40 million FLOCKS, which will be distributed over a two-year timeframe. Flamingo will distribute FLOCKS tokens monthly for the next 23 months.

Neo Ultimate Shop launched the online merchandise store for the Neo ecosystem and announced a giveaway campaign. Once Neo Ultimate Shop reaches 3,000 followers on X, the team will distribute apparel, seed phrase protection devices, and tokens to winning participants. To enter, follow Neo Ultimate Shop on X and Instagram, join the Telegram group, and tag three friends in the Tweet thread.

Unlocking the Chain released a video about Cassette, which gave an overview of downloading the Dropbox-like dApp, loading a NeoFS wallet with GAS, creating a container, and uploading files to the container.

Magic Cube announced plans to migrate the MCC token from Neo Legacy to N3. The platform, launched in 2018, aims to enable the creation of a decentralized entertainment ecosystem.

Frank Coin hosted a GasBot trivia contest on the FrankCoin channel of the NeoF1 Discord server and distributed 3 GAS in rewards to participants.

Developer Updates

Neo SPCC released NeoGo v0.109.0, realigning the Go node implementation with the latest update to the Neo core, v3.8.0. The update prepares NeoGo for the upcoming Echidna hard fork and further extends its functionality.

Neo SPCC released NeoFS REST Gateway v0.12.0, which included several updates and bug fixes to the services that bridge dApps and NeoFS nodes.

Neo SPCC highlighted its services that will shut down with Neo Legacy’s deprecation, including consensus and RPC nodes on the Legacy TestNet and RPC nodes on the Legacy MainNet.
