AxLabs lead engineer Michael Bucher will deliver a presentation at the upcoming Ethereum Zürich conference being held April 5 to 7, 2024. Ethereum Zürich is a hackathon and conference aimed at fostering innovation and creation in an environment where developers, researchers, and the broader Ethereum community can connect, learn, experiment, and build.

Bucher’s presentation will be entitled Bridging EVM and non-EVM Assets: A Practical Approach and take place on the Surge Stage at 12:45 p.m. (UTC) on April 5. The presentation will leverage the lessons learned from AxLabs’ contributions to the native bridge under development for Neo N3 and Neo X. Bucher intends to discuss the interoperability layer and why the team opted to build X as a sidechain, as opposed to a rollup, and how they settled on an Ordered Binary Hash Chain data structure due to its minimal complexity and cost-effectiveness.

Bucher has been an engineer at AxLabs since February 2020. He has an M.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Zürich where his thesis focused on optimizing on-chain transaction fees for smart contracts with frequent payouts. Most recently, Bucher assumed the lead engineer role for developing the native bridge for the Neo X EVM-compatible sidechain.
