NEO Global Development (NGD) released its monthly report for December, which highlights the upcoming NEO DevCon, development progress, events, and more. DevCon aims to be a “top-level developer conference for the NEO community,” with confirmed speakers from Accenture and Microsoft, among other NEO ecosystem projects.

To finish out the year, NGD released its 2018 Annual Report titled, “The Darkest Hour is Just Before the Dawn.” The report led with a quote from NEO founder Da Hongfei: “2018 was a tumultuous year for us but we have been holding on to the vision of smart economy and will make NEO the most developer-friendly public chain.”

NGD discussed its 2018 efforts in community development, research and development, dApp ecosystem growth, global activities, team building efforts, and milestones.

On December 20th, the NEO St Petersburg Competency Center (NEO SPCC) developer group attended the MICSECS-2018 Conference at ITMO University in St. Petersburg, where it presented three scientific works pertaining to the development of a NEO distributed decentralized storage platform (DDSP).

The following theses were presented:

  1. Zero-knowledge data validation method based on the homomorphic hash function in the DDSP
  2. The model of network map and data placement in the DDSP
  3. Push-gossip protocol efficiency with network topology propagation

Ecosystem

December 31st, Asura World announced a partnership with Phantasma Chain, in an effort to “empower both companies to grow in users and adoption of [their] platforms.” Under the agreement, the Phantasma app will feature Asura World within its “eSports/Gaming” category and support the ASA token.

December 31st, a New Kind of Network (NKN) posted its latest development report as well as a yearly retrospective for 2018. The article highlights what the team has worked on over the last two weeks and looks back at its achievements for the past year. Highlights include progress of the platform, activity in the GitHub repositories and core development efforts.

January 1st, Red Pulse announced the closed beta of Crypto Pulse in anticipation of a public launch scheduled for later in January of 2019. The new platform will extend the scope of Red Pulse’s content offering through the inclusion of breaking news, research content and technical analysis for the cryptocurrency market. The closed beta will give participants the opportunity to help shape the future of the platform as well as perform preliminary tests and quality assurance.

January 1st, Loopring released its development roadmap for 2019; further the project has refined its Protocol 2.X, established a new fee model, designed a new fee burning mechanism, and provided support for new ETH token standards. The development roadmap highlights a focus on protocol improvement, research and development, cross-chain compatibility, among others.

January 3rd, Aphelion released an update regarding know your customer (KYC) verification, broker-dealer status, answers to popular questions, next steps, and more. Trading on the DEX is now available through desktop, iOS, Android, and mobile web. Additionally, Aphelion dropped its native token, APH, as a quote currency and replaced it with Alchemint’s SDUSD stable coin. Looking forward, Aphelion aims to obtain its broker-dealer license, and pursue cross-chain trading functionality.

January 3rd, Endorsit updated its community on the progress of its content distribution ecosystem. The reports primarily focus on improvements to its Android decentralized application, with the current version updated to 1.0.13. Endorsit’s Android application received numerous improvements and bug fixes during the reporting periods. Further, Endorsit’s community underwent a restructuring exercise, where community members established content focus areas.

January 5th, in its partnership with Phantasma Chain, Asura World has announced an airdrop has of SOUL tokens for ASA token holders. Following a requisite registration, a total of 30,000 SOUL tokens will be airdropped to the Top 100 ASA token holders. Registration is available in the Asura World Telegram channel and begins at 10:00 am (UTC +1) on Saturday, January 12th.
