Frank, creator of World of Elements, has shared a progress update on the game’s transition from a single-player RPG to a fully multiplayer experience, reporting a working MMO foundation built in one month of development. The update, posted to the GrantShares proposal thread on July 1, follows the unanimous approval of 1,200 GAS in funding for the project’s multiplayer expansion.

The GrantShares proposal was approved in late May with five votes in favor and none against, providing a 180-day runway to deliver multiplayer functionality, improved Neo N3 integration, and Neo X support.

Foundation built in first month

Frank described the initial phase as focused on “basic stuff”: server setup and core systems required for a functioning MMO. The list of completed features covers the essential multiplayer infrastructure:

  • Login and registration system with a shared persistent world
  • PvP combat, a party system for cooperative play, and player-to-player trading
  • Chat, minimap navigation, and mobile UI improvements
  • A daily dungeon system where testers can earn crypto rewards, paired with a withdrawal option using a configurable in-game-to-wallet ratio
  • Anti-cheat measures

“I think I made a lot of progress and I think I’m well on schedule,” Frank said, noting that his day job limits available development time.

Crypto integration next

The second month of development will shift focus to deeper blockchain integration. Planned features include wallet-based registration and login, free deposit and withdrawal of crypto assets to an in-game wallet, and in-game display of crypto holdings.

Frank also intends to explore NFT creation for rare items, allowing players to freely trade them, along with Neo X integration that would let players spend GAS on cosmetic items. The original proposal outlined plans for Neon Wallet connection via WalletConnect and a token bridge concept between Neo N3 and Neo X within the game economy.

Background

World of Elements is a free-to-play 2D RPG built on Neo N3 using RPG Maker MV, inspired by classics like Final Fantasy and Secret of Mana. Players journey through the world of Elementia, choosing from four classical elements and earning FrankCoin rewards through gameplay. The game previously received 552 NEO through GrantShares in 2023 for blockchain integration, and its most recent single-player update, v1.12, introduced skill trees and a new location in March.

The multiplayer test server is live at worldofelements.de for those interested in trying it out. The full progress update can be found at the link below:
