United States-based project Thor, which is focused on providing payments, healthcare insurance, and retirement planning for contract labor has announced a partnership with M Group Health. Through this partnership, Thor can now offer healthcare access to the general public for the current open enrollment period, which ends on December 15th, 2018. This is one year earlier than Thor had originally planned to offer health insuarance. M Group Health are independent insurance agents and brokers based in Saratoga, California.
Association Health Plan (Thor Care)
Thor still plans to register a non-profit association in early 2019. Formation of a non-profit Association Health Plan (group health plans that employer groups and associations offer to provide health coverage for employees) requires legal consultation on Thor’s part, as the laws in the United States have recently changed.
For its part, the U.S. Department of Labor states that an Association Health Plan “could offer coverage to some or all employers in a state, city, county…, or it could offer coverage to businesses in a trade or industry group nationwide.”
Thor wants to register its non-profit association and form its board in the first quarter of 2019, negotiate with insurance companies in the second quarter of 2019, unveil Thor Care in the third quarter of 2019, and begin Thor Care open enrollment by November 1st, 2019.
M Group Health
Thor Director of Communications Reggie Clodfelter says of the M Group Health partnership, “We’ve made these plans available to anyone who wants to sign up” and directed interested applicants to the M Group Health website.
