NEO Global Development (NGD) released its monthly report for September. Highlights include the latest release of the full node program, NEO-CLI; the creation of CNEO and CGAS assets; the launch of the NEO Vulnerability Bounty Program (NEO VBP); the NEO creative design competition; the addition of nine new team members, and the addition of a Swisscom consensus node to the NEO TestNet.
NGD general manager, Johnson Zhao, spoke at the Delta Blockchain Summit in Malta, on October 5th. Johnson’s speech was titled, “Building the ‘Smart Economy’: Digital Assets, Digital Identity, and Smart Contracts.”
Johnson also attended the Helsinki Tech Conference on October 1st, where he delivered a keynote speech about the NEO ecosystem. This was followed by the NEO Helsinki Meetup on October 2nd.
The nominee awards for the second week of the NEO Creative Competition have been announced. The website design nominee award winner is Gašper Bregar, and the icon design winner is Ashish Sharma.
The NEO Blacksea Hackathon event in Tbilisi, Georgia was successfully concluded. NGD has released video coverage of the event, featuring project introductions by participants.
Developer Groups
NEO News Today published an overview of the recent neo-python v0.8.0 release by City of Zion (CoZ). The update includes new features such as sendtoaddress remote procedure call (RPC) method implementation, implementation of the NEP-8 stack isolation in neo-python, and bug fixes for resetting storage between smart contract invocations. Additionally, general changes were incorporated to add more functionality for developers to export or import set ranges of blocks, a compiler update to provide compatibility with the NEP-8 stack isolation implementation, and an update to discover neo that will allow developers to faster verify correctness.
Ecosystem
Coupit released a preview of the pre-alpha version of its e-commerce marketplace platform. The demo showcases various pages of the application, how to shop for retail goods, and the checkout page. The Coupit alpha will be listed on the Google Play Store on Tuesday, October 9th.
DeepBrain Chain completed a 50 million DBC token buyback from various exchanges. The tokens will be invested in artificial intelligence (AI) companies and sold in over-the-counter (OTC) trades to facilitate the purchase of AI computing power from DeepBrain Chain.
DeepBrain Chain also announced its DeepBrain Chain Ecosystem (DECO), which is a decentralized AI ecosystem comprised of DeepBrain Chain and DeepToken. DECO aims to develop an ecosystem where DeepBrain Chain provides underlying business support, and DeepToken exchange provides the financial infrastructure. DECO has currently invested in two projects: DeepBrain and VisionX.
PikcioChain launched its Proof of Usage (PoU) consensus algorithm on TestNet, which aims to serve as an incentive model that rewards data owners. The next step for the rollout of PoU will be unitary tests conducted in November to improve fault discovery, and identify issues surrounding masternode desynchronization, malicious block pushing, and transaction forging. PikcioChain is tentatively planning to hold a hackathon to test penetration attacks on the network.
Thor launched Odin, its “blockchain-ready” contractor payments portal, partnered with Dwolla, and obtained Yoshi as its first Odin client. The Odin platform yields three main functions for employers: payments, on-boarding, and integration. Through the Dwolla partnership, Thor will be able to send and receive money through the U.S. banking network. Yoshi, a car-care startup, will be the first customer to utilize the Odin management portal.
Ontology released OWallet v0.8.8, which introduces support for its staking feature, which began at block #414,100. As the required stake to host a node is 100,000 ONT, users can choose to support existing nodes with smaller stakes of 500 ONT to receive a share of consensus rewards.
AlphaCat released version 1.6 of the ACAT Store, updates include a new section that promotes recent events and news, a “recharge function” for new products added, and a new charging system for the real-time forecasting application.
Trinity Protocol released its second bi-monthly report for September. Highlights include development progress on the NEO and Ethereum protocols, research into the ‘Gateway,’ and added prediction node capacity and dynamic path look-up.
Travala published its Quarter 3 achievements and roadmap for Quarter 4. In Q3 of 2018, Travala released version 2 of its marketplace, formed a strategic partnership with SpotCoin, and added a total of 152,000 Properties in 29 countries. Looking forward, Travala plans to focus on research and development (R&D), marketing, and scaling for enterprise clients.
O3 Labs released v1.0.0 of the O3 Desktop application. The desktop app includes the “Marketplace” that allows users to browse through available NEP-5 tokens. The next project to be integrated with the wallet is set to be the NEO Name Service domain name dApp. The news feed was also added to the latest release, which features stories from NEO News Today and news from O3. Other quality of life updates include the addition of a dark mode and the ability to resize the wallet window.
Effect.AI published its September progress update, which includes development progress, event attendance, platform achievements, new upcoming tasks, and testing of Effect Force. In the future, 480,000 new tasks will be issued on Effect Force from the Singapore government and Quadrant Protocol. Lobster, a project partner, achieved up to 95% algorithm accuracy using training data sourced from the Effect Force platform. Effect.AI was also featured on one of Holland’s largest television networks and was chosen by the Dutch government to represent the Netherlands at CES 2019.
Moonlight released its September progress report, which was oriented around general business updates. Moonlight has focused on platform infrastructure with back-end capabilities for enterprise-class partners, designed to meet product offerings and scale for future business needs. Moonlight has acknowledged the high concentration of general development activity taking place in private repositories, and eventually aims to make the repositories open source. The team interviewed a variety of platform clients and users, to best incorporate their real-world needs into service offerings. Lastly, Moonlight is refining its roadmap and will publish an updated version in the near future.
